How do you like your summer flowers? I love an informal display, with blousy blooms and colourful vases. Most of my vases come from charity shops. I have hundreds of them – I don’t know where to put them all. Every time I go into an op shop, I come out with some kind of glass, ceramic, pottery, metal or china vessel of sorts. What’s your weakness, flower or otherwise?
Summer blooms to pick
There are some lovely summer blooms out and about right now, ready for picking – purple geranium, roses, hydrangeas, astilbe, dahlias, gaillardia, Shasta daisies and lisianthus (or eustoma – these are very hard to grow from seed), with eucalyptus and coleus for foliage fillers.
What’s ready for picking in your garden?
Summer wildflower bouquet
Wow. I’m loving this bouquet, which looks like it’s comprised of blooms straight out of a home garden. A picking garden, at that. Such vibrant colours and so cheerful, don’t you think?
My sunflowers, catmint and dahlias are coming along nicely in my own picking garden. I might be able to replicate this bouquet soon.
